Derek Sharp joined CWT Meetings & Events in 2018 as Global Managing Director. His extensive experience in management consulting, strategic sales, account management and senior leadership across the US, Europe, and Asia was a great addition to CWT. Now based in London, Derek oversees all the CWT Meetings & Events teams globally and is bringing an innovative approach to the industry. Derek holds an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College and a bachelor's degree in Political Science from Texas A&M University. In his spare time, Derek enjoys traveling, playing golf and reading spy novels. After living and working all over the world, he also enjoys learning foreign languages and speaks German.
Saskia Gentil joined CWT Meetings & Events with over 20 years’ experience in meetings and events and the global travel industry. Based in Paris, Saskia oversees global meetings and events sales team across 65 countries. Her unique 360-degree view of the business enables her to drive growth and productivity behind the CWT Meetings & Events’ strategy and digital capabilities while fulfilling the company’s overall business objectives. Saskia also holds a bachelor’s degree in International Hospitality Management at the Lausanne Hotel School and a Master of Management in International Tourism & Hospitality at the University of Oxford. Most recently, Saskia graduated from the prestigious INSEAD, one of the world’s top-ranked Executive Master of Business Administration degrees.
Kari Wendel holds more than 25 years of experience within the travel, procurement and meetings industry, specifically in successful strategies. Based in Tampa, Florida, Kari leads the global strategic meetings management side of CWT Meetings & Events. Kari’s expertise and influence does not stop there, with a background in consulting, client-facing solutions and creative problem solving and building high-performance teams. Kari has been nominated and won many awards, but proudly stands as one of the Top 25 Most Influential Executives in the meetings industry.
A 20-year leader at CWT, Tony has held numerous commercial roles in business travel before taking the role as VP for CWT Meetings & Events in the United States in 2007. Based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Tony leads a team of over 500 plus employees across eleven countries, supporting more than 15,000 meetings and events annually, including numerous top Fortune 100 brands. Tony has a strong passion for community and service leadership having been a GBTA Meetings Committee member and a current member of the University Of Minnesota Alumni Association Board of Directors. Tony’s efforts have been recognized and was named as of the “Forty under 40” in the Twin Cities and multiple internal recognitions including CEO and top performer awards.
Ian Cummings joined CWT Meetings & Events back in 2012 with a wealth of experience in driving strategic direction and growth within the service sector. Ian has a passion for client service delivery which has enabled him to hold successful regional, CEO and Managing Director roles previously. Based in London, Ian is now the Vice President of EMEA, offering leadership to all our EMEA meetings and event offices. Ian had a great impact in driving the results and business to win the coveted C&IT Global Agency of the Year award in 2018.
Sam Lay holds more than 18 years of experience in the MICE industry, having worked across a range of organizations, including venues, convention bureaus and global travel and meeting agencies. Sam is now the Senior Director for CWT Meetings & Events for the Asia Pacific region and has an entire team of meetings and event professionals across key markets. Sam holds a bachelor’s degree in International Tourism and is also a graduate from Goh Keng Swee Command and Staff College, from the Singapore Armed Forces.
Nathan Brooks has over 15 years’ experience in the industry, previously leading teams within consulting and media, airline and hotel relations with a major online travel company. Nathan also had roles with global hotel and airline companies within revenue management, marketing and sales. Based in Phoenix, Arizona, Nathan is now the Global Lead of Supplier Management and is responsible for leading supplier strategies and optimizing supplier revenues across the organization. Nathan also holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Arizona State University and a Masters of Business Administration from Indiana University.
